Moonlight through Cinder

Moonlight through Cinder – Eitan Muir 2018

‘Moonlight Through Cinder’ alludes to life in the midst of citywide renovations, in which increasing building heights swallow more of the remaining sky and the groans of construction work echo throughout day and night. I have always been interested in the stark contrast between a city’s night skyline as viewed from afar and the same as viewed from within, when one is encapsulated by concrete, noise, dust and light pollution. The piece responds to the experience of travelling through the central business district at night, and yearning for the comfort and sense of freedom which come with quiet streets and open skylines.
